Walk for the Waddells

The Fundraiser

The Pi Theta Chapter of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society of Clemson University will be hosting a 5K walk/run on February 5, 2011(9:30 am) in the SC Botanical Gardens. All of the proceeds from this event will go to help the Waddell family pay for construction on their home.

The Waddells: Bennie, Joan, Jessie, and Ben, are a local family who, like many families, have their fair share of challenges. What has moved our chapter to adopt the Waddell Family is Ben, an energetic, joyful 11 year old boy who also happens to have a very rare genetic disorder called Pallister-Killian Mosaic Syndrome. There is no known cause and many children with this disorder do not survive for very long. Ben has such a wonderful support network that he is thriving despite this challenge. One of his best friends and supporters is his teenaged sister, Jessie, who herself is also a special individual. The Waddells have utilized all of their resources
and cannot afford home repairs. The siding on their house is buckled, the railing on their porch is falling off,  they have a warped floor, a bathroom that is not handicap-equipped, and transportation issues.

This wonderful family needs a little help to provide a home that is suitable for both Ben and Jessie. Will you open your heart? Will you 'Walk for the Waddells'?
